Lay Odds
Lay odds is the dark-side version of the free odds bet, backing a Don't Pass or Don't Come wager after a point is set. It pays true odds with a zero house edge, but the ratio is reversed: you risk more than you win because the 7 is now the favorite. It pays 1:2 on the 4 and 10, 2:3 on the 5 and 9, and 5:6 on the 6 and 8.

How to place it
After your Don't Pass or Don't Come bet has a point, place additional chips behind it. You are laying the number against the 7.

Because you are now betting with the 7, which is the most likely roll. To keep the bet fair with zero edge, the payout is flipped: you risk 2 to win 1 on the 4 or 10, for example.
